This tutorial starts with the basic commands and operation in Clarisse IFX, and includes three cases of large-scale movie-like scenes. After the tutorial, you are expected to be more familiar with Clarisse IFX, acquire production skills essential for advanced CG scenes, and expand your knowledge base to scene arrangement, geographical making, plant creation, light and shadow settings, matte painting and Nuke compositing. |

This case is for basic-level learners, with the scene of a futuristic bay. You will learn to use World Creator to generate landscape, to create plants in coastal islands, to design building complex, to apply materials, and to set up a vibe for models.

This case is for intermediate-level learners, with the scene of deep sea. You will learn to arrange the layout of a scene in Maya, to sculpt details of deep-sea stones in ZBrush, to create water plants in SpeedTree, to produce animated fish swarm with Maya Mash, and to set up lights for the deep sea environment.
CG Scene- Sleepless CityCourse case 3
This case is for advanced-level learners, with the scene of a sleepless city where lights are on day and night. The hardest part is to use City Engine to create the city and arrange the layout of roads, to divide different regions of the city, and to create buildings and plants. You will learn to apply a procedural and efficient way to create a large-scale city, and to create a glittering night scene.

Majored in an animation, Qin Yao graduated from Communication University of China in 2009. He has been in the movie special effects industry for a decade. He is currently serving Base FX, as the former director of materials department and the current director of digital environment and matte painting department. He contributed to 50+ domestic and international movies for special effect production, and is a member of three-time Emmy Awards winning team for Best Visual Effects. In 2015, he was the guest speaker for TEDX@CHONGQING. Projects that he contributed to include Monster Hunt 1/2, Hidden Man, Captain America 3, The Great Wall, Star Wars 7, Transformers 4, Ninja Turtles (Teenage Mutant) and Pacific Rim.
