Yes, for sure. You can use Ornatrix Maya, Yeti and etc. Feel free to utilize the technique you learn in this course to create you own hair.

Do I have to have Arnold in order to do the rendering? Or can I use other software?

Currently, Arnold render is necessary when making hair and fur due to the good compatibility with XGen, however if your model will not have any hair or fur, you can use other software, like VRay, Redshift, Corona Renderer and etc.
